A lot of our friends and family ask why we love to travel so much even tho it can be very hard work when you have kids!!
A holiday to us is a way of forgetting the daily routines, we love to be taking in new sights, tasting new food(finding Gluten Free foods can be tough at times), getting to meet new people and experiencing their cultures.
With traditional package holidays where you are all inclusive you tend to be limited to the type of experience you get, as everything is included you are in a way restricted to the Hotel. Don't get me wrong nothing beats absorbing the sun while relaxing on a sun lounger while drinking a nice cocktail while you watch the kids play in the pool. But does this ever happen!! Well not with our family our teenager will happily sunbathing while listening to music, while our son loves to drag us off to the pool to dunk us. Even if the hotel has a kids club, we don't get much of a break apart from not having to cook, clean and wash up.
We find that Traveling is a way of making us not only appreciate all that we have but to help us bond as a family by doing something we all love.
We our daughter was 3 we took a two we trip to mainland Spain to visit our friends and family. Traveling during the Easter Holidays, we hired a car from Murcia airport and traveled to Vera where we stayed in our friends B&B for 5 days. They were amazing hosts and took us to all the must see places local places and their local market for amazing fresh fruit. It was amazing to go out in the evening for a meal and sit in a restaurant and people watch. I loved how the Spanish have real close families as one table was full of kids of all ages they would all be talking and playing even when the young ones fell sleep across the table.
With it being Easter (Holy Week) they had the processions with many different floats. The members of the group would all be wearing a cloak with sash around the waist, sandals and a pointed hood that covered their heads and faces. There would be lines of members marching after each float and well as people paying drums.
The floats had different wooden sculptures which were surrounded by what looked light upside down electric chandeliers.
To be able to experience it up close was phenomenal and the vibe that you could feel was unimaginable and the most mind blowing part was for the Spanish to encourage you to join in. It was defiantly an experience i will never forget.
One of the handy tips we learnt when traveling with a toddler was that taking a pushchair was very useful. Why you make ask, well let me tell you it is quite surprising just how much of the heavy items you normal take in your case can go in with the pushchair. We found that warping the pushchair in our beach towels took quite a bit of weight out of our case, we would also put the small bottles of travel shampoo, body wash and clothes washing liquid in there too.
To this day we have got packing down to a fine art where we can get 8 pairs of clothes per person (4 of us) into one 20kg case and still be under the 20kg and yes that does include beach towels too. So stay tuned to a blog coming soon as we are taking a trip to the sunshine and will add some photos to our tips blog.
I will leave you with a few of our favorite photos we have taken while traveling around the world.
We hope you all can get some winter sunshine and don't forget to check out site for some fantastic holiday opportunities.
Here are some photos from our Honeymoon in 2013 to The Pollensa Park Hotel and Spa. I was an amazing Hotel in a fantastic position too.
Bon Voyage for now.
